Strange perspective

These shoes were made for walking

This picture was shot on the beach during a nice walk in the morning. The shoe was just laying there and probably had quite a sea journey. Where did it come from? Did someone loose it when he/she was on a boat? What do you do then with the other shoe? Where is the other shoe? With those questions in mind I tried to photograph the shoe in it’s elements.

The shot was made in February 2012. Back then I did not have a DSLR and being on the beach with all the sand was also not a good idea with a camera with moving parts in it. So I brought my good old RICOH PX, a camera with a zoom lens inside the body. No external moving parts and no fear of getting sand in between those moving parts.
The shoe itself was not that interesting, however, photographing it from this angle made it look just so big! A big world for the shoe! There is no reference how big the shoe is, just like you cannot see what journey the shoe had made.

The camera was fully automatic, so I could not do that much about the settings. The camera thought that a 1/230 th of a second exposure time was enough with an ISO of 100 and an F-number of 11. Having that aperture, does show both the background and the foreground so I was quite happy with those settings and the result it gave. Also in 2012, I had no postprocessing software. No adjustments have been made to the photo.
The picture was made on the spot, without any fancy settings, without any accesoires and no post production. That made this shot a great impulsive photo!
