Rope jumping sun

The sun is rising… time to capture it’s energy!

This picture was shot back in April 2013, on an early morning just before I wanted to leave for work. It shows the brilliant view I have from my appartment 🙂
It was forecasted to become a superb day and just before I wanted to leave for work (normally around 06:30) I saw the sun peeping over the treeline. I then decided that I could actually get to work a little bit later as usual and focus the nice sunrise. Sometimes you have to put other priorities aside to make that beautiful photo!

I got my standard Canon telezoom lens and tried to focus on the sun, when I suddenly saw the the powerlines. I waited until the sun was just between the poles and thus above the lowest part of the lines. It appears that the sun is jumping rope! Having the telezoom, to suppress any movement, the exposure should less than 1/focallength. Thus in this case I had to go to less than 1/300th of a second. To be on the safe side, I choose something even less (1/400th of a second) and the ISO that could go with that.
In post, I cropped the picture a little bit to get the sun more or less in the middle and the poles on either side of the frame. No further post image editing was done. And it turned out to be a great impulsive photo!
