These ducks were floating by on this relaxed misty morning moment

This picture was shot near my house in the meadows I look over from my apartment. It was shot around the same time and location as I am a sucker for misty mornings! and near the location of this shot of a curious cow. Do I like this spot? Yesssss, I absolutely love this spot. It is where I run in the mornings and where I make a lot of photographs in these misty conditions.

For this particular shot I walked a bit further in the meadows where I saw these two ducks. They were floating silently on the water, however when I approached they started to propel the other way. So to keep the ducks in the frame, I had to make the shot rapidly, hence the framing of the shot is not optimal (I do not like the fence creeping in on the richt side). But the weather and the sun were creating this overwhelming scene in which I forgot to scan the edges of the shot.

The shot was from the hand. At that moment, I was not shooting on manual yet and tried to control everything by setting the aperture and was fixated on having a low aperture (F-number of 2.0) that I could get with a fixed ISO at 100. The idea behind that was then that this would result in sharp pictures because of the very fast exposure time. I also needed a short exposure time because of the moving ducks, however the 1 over 4000th of a second could have been a little bit slower. Perhaps setting the F-number at around 8, the shutter speed could have been around 1 over 640th of a second; still fast enough for the moving ducks to be sharp. However… I do like the bokeh in the foreground now. The lens was a 50 mm prime lens.

In post I actually did nothing with it. This is how it came through the lens. So, the picture was made on the spot without any tools, without any fancy settings and only with minimalist post processing. That made this shot a great impulsive photo!
