Building in the mist

This picture was shot in The Hague on a morning when it was pretty foggy. The building is the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations in The Hague, The Netherlands and it is one of the highest buildings in The Hague. With this fog going round the building, the top of the building is almost invisible. That morning I was pumped to get some pictures in the city with that fog and I remember that just looking up high, you could see the fog going by the building because of the firm wind.

That morning I only had my 50 mm lens with me, just for forcing myself in using it. That lens was just new and I wanted to get to know it as quick as possible. Well, it is a GREAT lens. Really magnificent!
When I passed this building it was just mesmerizing to look up. The lanes of windows going up does make you look twice in recognizing what they are. Having most of the interesting part at the lower half of the picture, I focussed also on that lower half. The setting I used was aperture priority and using this gave me an exposure of 1/320 second with an ISO of 100 at an aperture of 2.20.
In post I did nothing else but adding my signature at the bottom. The photo was already great in my eyes. The picture was made on the spot, without any fancy settings, any gear nor any post production. That made this shot a great impulsive photo!
