Austrian panorama views are amazing!

Great panorama view of Tannheim Alps in Austria

This picture was shot during a holiday in Tannheim in Austria. It just shows that those Austrian panorama views are amazing! I really like the mountains and living in The Netherlands does not give me that opportunity. That is why I always want to go on holidays in areas with mountains.

That day we made a great walk on the Füssner Jöchle at Grän in the Tannheimer Tal. That mountain ridge gives a very great view on Tannheimme and we had so much joy of the views. The problem is when you photograph this, the view gets framed. But I wanted to show the panoramic feeling in a picture. Se we came up to a little bend in the path. From the centerpoint of the photo, the path was a little bit moving more into the mountain. That point gave me an opportunity to make a panoramic view while at the same time not give a complete 180 degrees view. The path just give it more depth.

I did not have my tripod with me, so I shot the panorama from 5 shots from the hand. In order not to get any vibration in any of the photo, I set the exposure as high as possible by turning the aperture way low. At that moment, I was not shooting on manual yet and tried to control everything by setting the aperture. With an ISO of 100 and the Fnumber of 4,50, the camera decided to set the exposure to 1/800th of a second. Low enough to elliminate any handshake in each photo. Setting the focallength to 10 mm, also helped.

In post ofcourse I had to blend the shots to make it one panorama. I do that in Adobe Lightroom. There was a little bit of tweaking with the shadows, just to show some more of the foreground. I cropped the panorama to show the path on each side to give it a little bit of framing. If I would make this picture again, I would like to have a bit more interest in the mountains in the background by choosing the right time of day, e.g. sunrise or sunset. So, the picture was made on the spot without a tripod, without any fancy settings and with a bit of post processing to blend the images. That made this shot a great impulsive photo!
